CDP's Hayabusa Modification Page

CDP's Hayabusa as of today CDP's Hayabusa as of today CDP's Hayabusa as of today

I've made this page after viewing some of the other modification pages on the Internet. I love to browse these pages, and I have got a lot of ideas form these pages. I therefore thought that I would share my modifications with the rest of the world. In these Internet ages we have to help each other. If you have any cool modifications for a hayabusa motorcycle, or any other motorcycle, that I can use, I would be glad to recive a mail on this address : cdp@cdpdata.dk.

Centerstand

Official Suzuki picture

OK, so you buy a new Hayabusa with touring in mind. The first time on tour when you whant to lubricate the chain, you find out that it's a hard job if you don't have any of your friends with you. I therefore looked on the internet, and found that there were a centerstand for the hayabusa. When i talked to my suzuki dealer, he knew nothing of this. I then found the partnumber on the internet, and feed to him. He could hereafter order it.

When you fit a centerstand on the hayabusa, you have to remove the rear spoiler under the bike. It's a shame, but the functionality of a centerstand is much greater than the rear spoiler. In the begining it bothered me a lot, but now I don't notice it at all.

Fitting the centerstand is only for professionals, as you have to remove the exhaust system, and the wather and oil cooler system. This naturaly costs some more, as the mecanic have to use quite some time putting it all together.

Exhaust

The sound of a new hayabusa is not very loud. I like to be heard when I drive, so therefore I looked at a lot of different exhaust systems for the bike. I like the twin exhaust system, so the 4 into 1 systems were discarted right away. The finish must be of the finest quality, and it has to be a "bolt on" system, so I don't have to switch to much when I whant to drive on the cource.

Footpegs

The footpegs on the hayabusa are OK, but when i found the ones from LSL, I was hooked. I had some problems getting the right adapters for the front pegs, as the dealer in denmark never had sold these pegs to a hayabusa. Finaly i returned the front footpegs, ant bought them from
www.louis.de It was much cheaper, and I got the right things the first time. Be aware that the front adapter if for a Triumph model (T05) and the rear is the Suzuki (S02) adaptor.

When fitting the rear footpegs I had to add an extra bearing ball in the botton of the hole where the spring is attached. This was done because the pegs fell down on it's own when riding. After this little correction I have never had any problems with it.

Check LSL's internetpage here www.lsl-motorradtechnik.de

Windscreen

The original windscreen on the hayabusa is OK, but the wind pressure on the upper body can become too much when riding in an upright possision. I saw the MRA windscreens at a bike show in denmark, and ordred the racing version in deep blue. I got it a couple of weeks later, and I love the shape. It fits the hayabusa very well, and the mounting is very easy.

Check out the details here
www.mra.de/Marken/SUZUKI/gsx-r1300.htm

After I have used this windscreen for a couple of years, I noticed that the rubberband around the screen came loose. I have now glued this with super gule, and it seems to hold quite good.

Rear Lift Spools

I have already the centerstand for my hayabusa, but the brackets were already there by the rear axel. So I had to mount the real lifting spools. This also makes it much easier to make adjustments to the chain, as the tension of the chain have to me messured with weight applied to the rearweel. Nice little feature. Mabye I'll switch them with some in blue aluminium at some time. Haven't quite decidet this yet. It looks cool, and thats enough for me.

Tank Screws

I found these "LSL" screws on
www.louis.de, and I loved the idea of changing the screws on the tank to these blue ones. It's very easy and very quick to do. I like the result very much. Mabye I'll put a carbon cover on it at some point in time. I haven't seen the real suzuki ones, as our danish importer is very bad in getting the parts to Denmark.

Price : 90,00 dkr.

Krauser K5 Bags

When touring on the Hayabusa, bags are essential. I looked at a lot of different makes and models, and finaly I went with the Krausser system. The fitting of the holders for the bags is very easy, but you'll miss two small adaperplates for the back handle. I got mine from one of my very good friends that had them made for me. Thanks Per !!!. I normaly drive with the mounting brackets at all times, but in winter I take them off. Be sure to get the innerbags for the K5 system.

GPT Gear Indicator

How many times have I been driving down the road wondering in what gear I'm in ??? MANY !!

So when I saw the GTP Gear Indicator on the Internet :
www.gpt.it, I wrote them and asked who was importing these to Denmark. They replied very quickly, and told me that Nut City Engineering was the one in Denmark. I know Henrik from NCE very well from my PocketBike, and within a week he had one for me.

I LOVE THIS GADGET !!!!

Garmin Quest GPS / Mounting Bracket

Maps and motorcycles are not the best combination. I played with the thought that I would like to add a GPS to mo Motorcycle. When I saw the Garmin Quest GPS I knew that it would be the right one for my Hayabusa. I ordred it in London, as it is much cheaper than the Danish prices, and I got the GPS in a few days.

I now needed a way to mount the thing. Garmin produces a motorcyclemount which is quite nice. I didn't have a place to put it on the dashboard. Thats when I got the Idea to mount it in the Steeringtube. This way I could et rid og the wire for the power to the GPS.

Some friends of mine fabricated the mount for me in aluminium. They know their stuff, and the result is perfect. Thanks Guy's - I'll find a way to pay you back ;-). In time the mount will be blue anodized.

After a year or so I finaly got enough parts ready to get anodized. It looks very cool, and realy makes the mount stands out.

Tank Frame Cover

I saw this coverplate at
www.sbfiberdesign.com. The instalation was very easy, and the result is good. It covers the ugly studs that screws the tank into place. I had to bent the ends of the plate a little bit. It's very easy to do this when the plate is heated up. Now I have to get blue bolts for this plate. It will be very cool.

Tank Bra from SecondLook.com

I got this from www.58cycle.com. DO NOT USE THEM AS A SUPPLIER !!!!!!!! They are very slow, and I had to call them a lot of times. They don't support VISA, so it's a pain to deal with them over the Internet.

The SecondLook TankBra is very nice, and I love the way it fits the Bike. I have coateh the tank under the bra with masking tape so that the bra won't stratch the underlying paint. I have now used the bra for over a year, and I love it.

Price : 129 US$.

Brake/Clutch Levers

When i was browsing the internet one day, I found the
RumbleImport store. The have a lot ofdifferent things for the Hayabusa. I found the Sweedish distributor (Bikersneed.se) of their products and ordred two blue levers for my bike.
DON'T buy these they look nice, but they are paintet and not anodised. I spend quite some time modifying the clutch lever in order for it to fit the hayabusa. I will have the original levers anodised and only use these new cheap levers for spare parts.

Speedo healer

OK, so you buy a very expensive motorcycle, and they can't even make a speedo that can mesure corectly ?. This Sucks !!. I thereforre bought the spedohealer through their homepage
www.speedohealer.com. When you buy this part you must specify to what bike it will have to be used for, in order to get the right cabel set.
The instalation of this part i very easy, but have to be done while the left faring is off anyway. You find the plug fron the chain sensor, and insert the Y-cable into the plug. Then put the box somewhere under the body parts where it won't be very wet.
Calibration of this unit is very easy when you have a GPS. Put the box on the bike, and set it to neural configuration. Then go for a ride and record the speed at the speedo and at the same time on the GPS. When you get home use their website to calculate the offset, and print out the instructions. VERY EASY !!.
I have now used it for some time and It realy is VERY Nice.... I can only recomend.
